Megan and her selected staff of instructors cater to their
students in order to design a program that addresses each student's needs and their
individual goals. Beginner riders receive instruction as well as those who
are already riding at an advanced level in both English and Western. Tara
invites adults and youngsters to visit the farm to get to meet and get to know
everyone. Potential students are introduced to the lesson horses that will
become their partners in the process of learning.
Every participant begins by mastering a basic, balanced
seat. Riders are taught to be safe around the horses so they feel confident and
comfortable when they are together working as a team. Skill development happens
by varying degrees. The instructors allow their students to progress, level by
level, appropriately. Positive reinforcement brings favorable results! Once set
goals are reached, the rider then decides which discipline to focus on.
One important aspect of the SHF program is that we strive to
maintain an environment that offers many opportunities for growth. Students and
parents alike learn that being around horses helps build self-confidence.
Leadership skills are acquired as rider responsibilities are attained and
perfected. The compassion one learns when bonding with a horse builds
character. All of these attributes will make the rider a stronger person in
many aspects of life. These skills and accomplishments are something everyone
in the family can be proud of!

School Vacation and Summer Camp Programs
Our camp programs run half-days from 9am-2pm and include horsemanship, grooming, learning to tack and intack, general care including first aid, anatomy and craft projects. The kids bring their lunch and have a day of fun at the farm.
